Abstract
The reported oscillator circuits use active inductor topology for the cost-effective alternative of currently available varactor-tuned oscillator (VTO) circuits for the application in third and later generation communication systems. The state-of-the-art technology is analytically validated with the CAD simulated and measured data. It was observed that classical Leeson phase noise model unable to predict the phase noise of Active Inductor based oscillator, therefore unified phase noise model is needed to explain the discrepancies.
