Abstract :
The authors review advanced numerical methods for distribution systems such as distribution state estimation, distribution power flow, feeder reconfiguration, and fault identification and location. These methods are being incorporated into distribution management systems (DMS) as more and more real-time measurements become available when certain automatic devices, such as switches, reclosers and capacitors are installed. We also discuss the advantages of integrating the real-time model available from a DMS with information systems such as automated mapping and facility management (AM/FM) systems, outage management systems (OMS), and power quality monitoring systems (PQMS)
