Abstract
The reflection and polarization transformation of electromagnetic waves propagating in a medium with small longitudinal gyrotropy and weak longitudinal inhomogeneity are theoretically considered. Using a complex form of the asymptotic method of Krylov, Bogoliubov and Mitropolsky, expressions for coupling coefficients of propagating waves are derived. Analytical solutions for perturbed wave numbers and eigenwaves for some simple cases are obtained. Longitudinal distributions of complex amplitudes are numerically computed if some various perturbations are combined
