  • Abstract
The MAX Rover and the new Mini-MAX 2000 are a new generation of all electric ROVs that have been developed using modern technologies over the past five years. These revolutionary vehicles are low cost, lightweight, reliable, and easy to operate. They represent over twenty years of experience and an evolution from conventional hydraulic to electric devices and from analog to computer based control. They use the latest in computers, digital signal processing, miniaturized integrated circuits, and fiber-optic telemetry to maximize performance. Modern production techniques and extensive use of commercial off the shelf components minimize the cost of these new vehicles. Ten have been delivered. This paper discusses the objectives of this development and the resulting ROV and its subsystems
