Abstract :
A least squares fractal approximation of an image block in its neighbourhood is presented. Compared with Monro´s (1992) fractal coding, the fractal coefficients of our algorithm are easily quantified. The compression ratio and PSNR of our fractal coding is higher than Monro´s algorithm
