Abstract :
Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) images are an important support for protein analysis in proteomics. The denoising process is the first step and its efficiency is of great significance in the gel image processing. In this paper, two denoising schemes are proposed based on the wavelet transform (WT) and the total variation (TV), respectively. The results on both simulated and real gel images show that the proposed method WTTV achieves better PSNR performance than the WT, the digital TV filter, and suggests its promising use in practical protein analysis systems.
