Abstract :
In this presentation, a compact LHM unit cell, which smallest electrical size is only 0.1, is designed. The LHM unit cells are stacked and embedded into a host substrate to construct a phase-compensating substrate for the microstrip antenna (MSA) miniaturization. Results show that the presence of the LHM fillings can indeed greatly reduce the physical dimensions to 0.17 lambda. Moreover, a miniaturized rectangular waveguide cavity resonator (MRWCR) depending on the backward wave property of the LHM is designed and simulated. Results show that the electrical length of the MRWCR is only a third of that of a conventional cavity resonator´s.
