Abstract
In this paper the rationale behind occurrence of environmental problems is discussed, and an approach to these problems is suggested by focusing on the nature of the thought process which governs human interaction with artifacts. First, instability and uncertainty in the thought process is focused on as a cause of creativity and error in human behavior, and the nature of the instability and uncertainty is discussed from the viewpoint of abduction and self-reference. Next, a design methodology of an artifactual environment is proposed based on this discussion
