Abstract :
NEWSKY is a research project co-funded by the European Commission within the 6th Framework Programme. The main goal of the project was to integrate both different communication technologies and different application classes into a global heterogeneous aeronautical network. It aimed at developing solutions based on the IPv6 protocol stack, focusing on network layer and transport layer integration. This paper discusses key findings and results of the simulation based assessment of the NEWSKY networking concept.
