Abstract :
The purpose of computer system backup is to minimize the backup time of large file systems. This problem is more serious in the Backup Development Processing system with UNIX and large database systems. The paper examines the principle and the problem of the traditional backup system. It also suggests a new method for a high-speed on-line backup system using the UNIX operating system. It also compares the performance between traditional backup systems and the high speed backup system by analytical modeling. This performance model shows that the new backup system (high-speed on line backup) can reduce the backup time remarkably, comparing with the traditional systems
