Abstract
The performance of a single-stage LiBr/water absorption heat-pump (AHP) system in its cooling cycle is analyzed. Two important factors of the performance of an AHP are the effectiveness of the solution heat exchanger and the circulation ratio of the LiBr solution to water. In this analysis the cooling coefficient of performance (COP) of an AHP is expressed as an explicit function of the circulation ratio, the effectiveness of the solution heat exchanger, etc. The effects of the variation of different factors are analyzed. The optimal values of the effectiveness of the solution heat exchanger for an ideal cycle at various design conditions are presented, with the corresponding ideal COPs for the AHP cycle
