Abstract
The author presents some notable points of the model project going on in the Ogasawara islands. This project is aimed at creating a zero-emission energy system in an intelligent community. In this community, people are expected to take measures to resolve a chronic problem of water shortage in the islands. The third sector should implement a renewal plan of rum brewing because their business has been in the red. People are expected to add high values to forest and agricultural resources, which are strongly associated with the history of the islands. Above all, the main focus should be placed on a plan to experiment with new business projects for the islands. They are expected to establish new types of power generation by making good use of characteristic nature, geography, and environment of the region
