Abstract
The hydrothermally solidified soil material “Earth Ceramics” is introduced as an example developed following a new concept for the development of materials. It is shown that Earth Ceramics are a low environmental impact material with a high possibility of recycling and a low manufacturing energy consumption. Simultaneously it is shown that Earth Ceramics are a human friendly material with a self humidity controlling property which could create a pleasant and healthy life space. Through the introduction of Earth Ceramics, a new concept for the development of material is proposed. It is stated in the new concept that the consideration for reducing the environmental impact of the product and for endowing simultaneously the human friendly properties to the product is indispensable in the further development of materials
