Abstract
The paper provides an overview of a modeling and simulation study, performed for the Project Network of the Advanced Neutron Source (ANS/PN), a new research facility being designed under the auspices of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. After an introduction to computer network simulation in general and the Block-Oriented Network Simulator (BONeS) fine-grain simulator in particular, the preliminary ANS/PN model is defined and described. Next, a number of simulation results are provided in terms of throughput, delay, etc., along with a discussion regarding the meaning of the results and their validity. Finally, a brief set of conclusions and future research directions is presented
