Abstract :
The dissemination of context information to enable context-awareness in various users, devices, and applications is a focus of current research in mobile network computing. The aim of our overall research is to build a balanced, adaptable, and interoperable overlay-based context dissemination mechanism for next generation networks. Our pure overlay space architecture acts as a base for the development and maintenance of application-layer context-aware dissemination protocols. Our multi-level overlay network based dissemination protocol exhibits dynamic and fair context dissemination. In this paper, we first overview this dasiapure overlaypsila and dasiamulti-level overlaypsila combined context dissemination scheme and discuss its advantages and constraints in autonomous and heterogeneous environments. We then focus on proposing techniques for improving this dissemination scheme towards a practically usable dissemination protocol which satisfies our goals. The proposed optimizations include: proxy overlay mechanism, hybrid agent structure, fault tolerance, and aggregated multiple objects. Alongside the high-level discussion, this conceptualization paper is complemented with an example scenario and simulation study results.
