Abstract :
In 1962 -- 1971 Kazan Computer Plant upgraded and developed magnetic tape drives (MTD) of M-20, M-220, and M-222 computers. The paper discusses the history of their upgrading and development, software engineers, cooperation between researchers in the field of digital magnetic recording and various organizations with reference to the main technical solutions.
