Abstract :
The authors study the fundamental behavior of a vibrating particle bed in order to develop a separation system for solid waste based on segregation in a pseudo-fluid using such a vibrating particle bed. The materials used were lead and zirconia beads. The convection and segregation occurred above critical amplitude. The convection and segregation maps of lead and zirconia were drawn in the range of 25-200 Hz frequency and 0-2 mm amplitude. In order to predict segregation, the mixing of solid particles was measured using a photometer with a thief probe. The distribution map of Pb and ZrO2 beads was obtained. It was deduced that it is able to separate and treat solid wastes using a vibrating particle bed
