Abstract :
The author investigates an erasure decoding scheme for a special class of concatenated codes which is efficient in the sense of correcting a single burst, multiple bursts and random erasures, as well as the combination of bursts and random erasures. The erasure decoding capability is investigated. A qualitative comparison is made between the concatenated codes and several other codes
