Abstract :
Readers have problems navigating through large hypermedia systems. Expert system technology is a promising means to enhance such hypermedia systems. Firstly, a hypertext model is introduced. Then, hypermedia systems and expert systems are compared and the ways in which expert technology might be applied are considered. Finally, the application of expert system technology (using organization and domain knowledge, indexing, and agents) to the nodes, links and interface of the hypermedia system is presented
