Abstract
Differences in the quality factor of a complex cavity as measured in the frequency and time domains in reverberation chamber measurements are shown. The possible reasons for the discrepancy between the two measured quality factors are discussed along with a detailed study of the parameters in consideration when performing a time domain measurement. The advantages of time domain in the estimation of the time decay constant by windowing the direct path effects is detailed. The efficiency of the time domain technique in the measurement of the quality factor of any complex cavity is of particular interest.
