  • Abstract
Telecom operators worldwide are deploying backup power fuel cell systems to support clean energy and gain the benefits of fuel cell systems in their networks. Examples of successful telecom installations: Indonesia - In an effort to use alternative energy solutions that have a positive impact on the environment, more than 400 backup power fuel cell systems have been installed on Indonesia\´s telecom network instead of traditional diesel generators. This is the largest commercial deployment of fuel cell systems on an Indonesia telecom network. Caribbean - A telecom network in the islands of Trinidad and Tobago has deployed over 60 fuel cell systems. This sizeable installation confirms fuel cells attractive value proposition and demonstrates the growing trend to support eco-friendly solutions with clean energy. South Africa - As part of its drive to use safer fuel options (methanol/water), increase extended run time, increase reliability, decrease operational costs, and reduce emissions, Vodacom installed IdaTech\´s ElectraGen™ ME 5kW systems in their base stations. Network operators increasingly value the "green" aspect of fuel cell systems and adoption of backup power fuel cells is a growing trend in mobile networks worldwide.
