Abstract
Use of DC power for datacenters presents interesting potential for energy consumption and reliability improvements. One of the obstacles of using DC power in the datacenter is the understanding of inrush currents and their effect on switches and connectors. This paper will analyze the first inrush current peak that results from the charging of the EMI X-capacitor of the IT equipment power supply. The paper will study the effects of EMI X-capacitor value, distribution distance and source capacitance for typical datacenter architectures.
