Abstract :
This paper describes the motivation and the methodology behind an advanced undergraduate/graduate level elective course on the wireless standards developed by the IEEE. The course has been offered twice at two different universities and has been very popular, attracting record enrollment. The paper first discusses the need for this course, and then presents an overview of the wireless standards. The outline of the developed one- semester course including learning goals and the justification of the proposed outline are discussed in detail. The related labs that have been developed are summarized. The student survey results are also included.
