Abstract :
Since the first outbreak of avian flu, the ability to discover the origin of the disease as soon as possible is highly required. To trace back to the origin, it is necessary to identify and verify the source of information. Radio Frequency Identification or RFID is a popular tool to identify animal and automatically collect information for traceability purpose. In this paper, we present a poultry traceability system implementing RFID locating at an animal checkpoint. At the checkpoint, the department of livestock development staffs check the movement documents, evaluate the transport vehicle and also animal conditions before approving the continuation of the journey. From our study, the result shows that by utilizing RFID, the system will have higher reliability and the time spent in each movement evaluation is reduced to 20% of the non-RFID system.
