Abstract
In this paper we propose a new automated vision system for rapid fire onset detection. In order to prevent the born of a fire, a system constituted by two firewire cameras and a laptop, that manages images from the cameras and remotely controls a fire extinguisher, was designed and realized. This system is a very promising substitute for common fire sprinkler systems in closed environment.
