Abstract
Based on analysis of characteristics of UV (Ultraviolet) light power envelope and the output signal of the detector, a modulation scheme for UV communication system employing low pressure mercury lamp as lamp-house was proposed. In the scheme, the frequency of UV power envelope is controlled by the current frequency in the electronic ballast and the scheme is similar to the BFSK (Binary Frequency-Shift keying). The modulation experiment was carried out using low pressure mercury lamp as lamp-house. Results show that the modulation scheme is viable.
