Abstract :
In this work, we study the application of expectation maximization (EM) algorithm for maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) over a fading channel which is represented by a finite state Markov chain. The proposed sequence estimation scheme is evaluated for a finite state Markov channel (FSMC) in various channel conditions in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) through computer simulation. The error performance of the method is also discussed.
