Abstract :
Hybrid systems using several energy sources can use specific VRLA batteries as one of the main sources. The operating costs of such systems are greatly reduced compared to systems using exclusively diesel generators. In those applications the battery is discharged daily and is exposed to significantly different conditions than traditional standby application battery. The battery in hybrid application needs therefore to be selected in accordingly. The charging conditions are a key factor in achieving the expected life. Our positive experience and monitoring of installed systems since 2007 tells us that a case by-case study is often necessary to achieve the most optimized system.
