The experience in developing textbook

Developing textbooks is just as important as doing researches. One of the major problems in computing curricula is the lack of suitable advanced Chinese textbooks that developed countries have. The rapid growth of the Internet and World Wide Web could change the way of developing textbook. We report our own efforts on developing a Chinese textbook, which is called multimedia fundamentals. The outlined techniques in developing the textbook include understanding textbook´s role from teaching and learning, development trend from call for papers, subject matter from multimedia products, syllabus from courses of advanced universities and companies, new terms and definitions from foreign materials. The contents of the textbook and the distribution of the printed and the electronic textbook are also reported.
