Abstract :
Broadband wireless access for mobile computers in a school campus is appealing for emerging wireless multimedia applications including on-campus network access and delivery of interactive teaching materials. Such services facilitate delivery of tutorials on demand and conducting field measurements. While both services offer flexibility for data access across a campus, the former requires receiving information at high data rates while the latter requires transmission of a relatively small amount of data for storage and subsequent processing. This paper seeks to provide an alternative solution to traditional WLAN systems for multimedia services with limited mobility in a campus environment by presenting some preliminary results.
