Abstract :
An integratable transceiver architecture utilizing a new spread spectrum local oscillator technique is presented. In this type of transceiver architecture, the effects of two or more spread-spectrum oscillators combine to produce a desired “phantom” oscillator useful for frequency translation. The phantom oscillator technique is particularly applicable to the up-conversion and down-conversion paths in integrated transceivers, since spread-spectrum oscillator leakage does not create problematic DC offsets
