Abstract
In the case of electrostatic powder coating using a frictional charger, one serious problem is the poor charging characteristic of powder paint. In order to overcome this problem, a new system composed of a plasma generator and a frictional charger was investigated. The results obtained for three powder samples show that the plasma has strong effect on the frictional charging of powders. In the case of a polyester powder paint for frictional charging, the frictional charge was 7 times as large as that without plasma effect
