Abstract :
An analytic model for the algorithm controlling base station´s received target signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) to maintain a pre-set frame error rate (FER) is derived. It is shown that the model can be used to find the optimum control step size for various wireless environments. The numerical results based on the analytic model are similar to the simulation results. As the probability of the assumed discrete speed change increases, the average target SIR increases but the optimum control step size decreases
