Abstract
This work proposes the use of bloom filters for forwarding decision in Metro Ethernet Networks. The proposed bloom filter is short enough to be placed in a standard Ethernet header. To make it possible two novel false positive mitigation techniques are introduced. All the proposed ideas can be implemented on off-the-shelf devices as shown at the end of this paper. At the same time the efficiency of the techniques is proved by the simulation results.
