Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Recent progress toward ultra-large capacity optical transmission systems employing all-optical time-division multiplexing (TDM) technology is reviewed. Successful optical TDM transmission experiments up to 400 Gbit/s and 100 Gbit/s×10 channel TDM/WDM transmission experiments having 1 Tbit/s capacity are described together with state-of-the-art performances and future prospects
