Abstract
This paper proposes a damping method for inter-area oscillation based on energy storage system (ESS) installed to a transmission line. A new fuzzy logical controller (FLC) for ESS is proposed too. The input signal of the controller is the variation rate of the deviation between the phase angles of the intertie´s terminal buses which is easy to measure in practical system and makes the controller more robust. Simulations results on single machine infinite bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested FLC strategy for ESS to damping inter-area oscillation.
