Abstract :
In the design of modern optic fiber lines, telecommunications and information centers there is a problem of lasing sources with a wide modulation bandwidth, super small size, high efficiency and small threshold current. In many cases 2-D laser arrays are necessary. As a key element of laser arrays the vertical cavity lasers are used. In this work, the dependence of the threshold current on the output aperture for AlGaAs/GaAs and InGaAs/GaAs vertical cavity lasers with an implanted layer is investigated. For a description of the field distribution in various layers, the scalar Helmholtz equation in cylindrical coordinates is solved in view of the circular symmetry of the fundamental mode
