Abstract :
IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications for year 2000) is the 3rd generation mobile network, enabling mobile subscribers to use various kinds of network services, and to roam among different mobile networks seamlessly. The ITU has been standardizing the IMT-2000 functional model and possible physical mapping scenarios as standardization stage 2. The TACF (terminal access control function) is one of the function entities defined in Q.FNA, and is one of the major point of concern because it provides the overall call-related control between the mobile terminal and the core network. We determine the optimal position of the TACF in the IMT-2000 networks from the viewpoint of basic mobile services´ delays by comparing 3 mapping cases, functional-level analysis and simulations
