Abstract :
This paper presents a H2 controller design approach for power system stabilizers (PSS) based on LMI pole constraints analysis for damping low frequency oscillations. A single machine infinite bus system and a Heffron-Phillips synchronous generator mathematical model are selected in order to compare the effectiveness of the proposed controller with conventional PSS (CPSS). The H2 robust control guarantees the damping performance for different operating conditions and its robustness is better than that of CPSS.
