Abstract :
Resource sharing is a major problem in distributed networks as systems have resources in common. To guarantee the correctness of data written in the shared resource also called CS (critical section) mutual exclusion is proposed as a solution. Mobile ad hoc Networks are unstable distributed networks formed dynamically by the connections of wireless battery-powered nodes without the use of an existing network substructure so energy consumption during communication is a major depletion parameter. Eventually there is a strong need for the presence of energy efficient protocols. In this paper we review energy-consumption in distributed mutual exclusion algorithms which is a vital factor for wireless applications such as mobile ad-hoc networks.
