Abstract :
In this paper a novel architecture for Home gateway is proposed. In the home networking system, there exist many different kinds of data types, such as audio, video, and control information. The communication spans multiple networks, such as Bluetooth, wireless LAN, USB, IEEE1394, and Power Line Communication (PLC). The hardware architecture of the Home gateway presented in this paper is based on ISO/IEC JTC I/SC 25/WG 1. The packet processing architecture proposed in this paper takes into account the characteristics of the home network environment so that the packets in the home network are processed very efficiently. The proposed Home gateway is implemented using ARM7TDMI and VxWorks.
