Abstract :
Successful development of complex software systems depends on an effective process supported by an appropriate and useful set of tools. Modern programming environments and rapid prototyping tools work well for individual developers working on projects of modest size. However, large group projects require a systematic approach to development and an integrated set of tools. A comprehensive toolset for OO development includes not only design and programming tools, but also reuse libraries and browsers, code generators, and tool frameworks. Today´s computing environments for object-oriented development are still relatively immature. Existing OO analysis and design tools, programming environments for OO programming languages, and GUI builders for OO user interfaces must be more completely integrated with each other and with reuse mechanisms and environment frameworks. This paper presents some of the most important requirements for such environments
