Abstract
In this paper a brief revisit is made to the electricity distribution systems of the 19th century. The authors then make a leap into the future: thanks to the foresight of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV). The argument is made that the new proposed 42 V DC automotive system can be applied with advantage to rural electrification.
