Abstract :
This work presents the results of a static simulation of voltage collapse in a reduced electric power system using the continuation power flow method. The generators operating limits were set up in according to their capability curve. It was considered two procedures of operating the system generators that violates their capability curve. In the first one, the generator is transformed in a kind of load bus whose terminal voltage is not regulated anymore and the scheduled active generation is kept constant. In the second one, deviations in the scheduled generations are allowed in order to maintain the generator terminal voltages constant. It is also presented a scheme that allows the control of the step size of the continuation method.
