Abstract
A systems approach to control the competitiveness environment of a firm is proposed. The system is based on an organizational cybernetic framework, designed to introduce the dynamic and complex global competitiveness environment into the firm by means of an integral mechanism, which considers all the aspects of the competitiveness environment. The system is based on a model that represents a classical and holistic competitiveness theory, and a knowledge-based system which represents the theory, and the firm´s intellectual competitiveness patrimony. As a result of this process, the firm may generate and simulate competitiveness scenarios to be used for the analysis, diagnosis, and forecasting of competitiveness situations as well as for the formulation of strategies
