Abstract :
In code division multiple access (CDMA) systems each user is given a distinct pseudorandom code. Users in adjacent cells, in the case of cellular systems, use the same bandwidth and therefore interfere, making a received signal appear noisier as the traffic increases in the system. With CDMA several users access a common medium, by modulating their symbols with designed spreading sequences. This article analyzes a model for the Gaussian multiple access channel, with discrete input and continuous output, that uses spread spectrum techniques. The effect of Rayleigh fading on the capacity of the channel is investigated
