Abstract :
IExchange is a new technology in the Motorola iDEN system. It transmits data packets over the dispatch channel and achieves very high efficiency multicast of messages. An investigation was done based on the published technical documents from Motorola. As an output of the investigation, this paper discusses the mechanism of this technology, compares it with technologies providing similar services and describes an application which highlights its advantages. Possibilities and requirements of implementing similar technology in other wireless systems are discussed.
