Abstract
Applications of Ultra Wideband technologies are increasing significantly in various fields such as medicine, localization and ranging, hidden objects detection, security and RADAR. Nanosecond or sub-nanosecond pulses are needed to establish an UWB system. In this paper, a novel low cost Narrow Pulse Generator (NPG) was proposed and implemented using ultra-fast logic gate with 60 ps rise / fall times. Analysis of the generated pulse has been carried out in time and frequency domains according to theoretical and measured values. Results proved that the generated pulses showed less rise and fall times compared to other low cost discrete logic circuits in literature and higher Pulse Repetition Rate (PRF) than SRD-based generators.
