Abstract

The streaming media for teaching has some special characteristics that are different from common VODs in entertainment applications, and also, the similar circumstances appear between common desktop computers and portable devices with capacitive touch display such as iPad. Therefore it is necessary to develop a new media format for teaching. Based on the ASF format, a new Streaming Media format for Teaching (TSM format) is proposed in this paper. TSM is more suitable for playing on portable devices that has capability of touch display. Several scenarios are selected to experiment TSM´s features includes interface and controllers. Experiments show the proposed format is more reasonable, accurate and convenient for processing and playing media for education.
