Abstract
Open medical images libraries (MIL) system for medical imaging becomes very important internet services in today´s medical education systems, especially in medical schools´ research and education programs. This paper presents a framework and open architecture of such systems that can be used to share medical data among medical, especially radiological, education programs internationally. Several major components (network protocols, grid-based distributed computing system architecture, and data representation etc.) within such systems are addressed and discussed. The emphasis lies on on the interactions (open system interface) and communications (networking) among the inner subsystems and outside environment system. The system integrations are presented to make the subsystems and the whole system more efficient, interactive, and dynamic in systems engineering. The application scenarios focus on CT medical image from medical modalities.
